PURPOSE
The Quarterly Business Builder Award recognises the Etorian or team that demonstrates the strongest combination of user adoption, user growth and continuous product improvement within the eToro Builders Ecosystem.
The award is open to all Etorians, regardless of role, department or technical background.
COMPETITION PERIOD
Each competition covers one calendar quarter:
- Q1: January–March
- Q2: April–June
- Q3: July–September
- Q4: October–December
Only activity recorded during the relevant quarter will be included.
ELIGIBILITY
An app is eligible if it:
- Is created and submitted by an Etorian or Etorian team.
- Is available through the approved eToro environment or App Store.
- Complies with eToro policies, security requirements and applicable laws.
- Has been available to users during the relevant quarter.
- Uses genuine user activity and does not manipulate user or update numbers.
A user will count only when the user is unique, verified and completes the app’s intended first meaningful action. Downloads, test accounts, duplicate accounts, simple page views or logins alone do not count.
SCORING
Each eligible app receives a score out of 100 points.
1. NET NEW USERS — 50 POINTS
This measures the number of new verified users acquired during the quarter.
New User Points =
(New users of the app ÷ highest new-user total among eligible apps) × 50
The app with the highest number of qualifying new users receives the full 50 points.
2. PERCENTAGE INCREASE IN USERS — 30 POINTS
The app must exceed 100 users at the end of the quarter to receive any growth points.
Adjusted Growth % =
Maximum of 0 and:
(End users − Maximum of Start users or 100)
÷ Maximum of Start users or 100 × 100
The result is capped at 100%.
Growth Points =
Capped Adjusted Growth % ÷ 100 × 30
If the app has 100 or fewer users at the end of the quarter, its growth score is zero.
3. QUALIFIED APP UPDATES — 20 POINTS
Each approved update published during the quarter earns four points, up to a maximum of five updates.
Update Points =
Minimum of Qualified Updates or 5 ÷ 5 × 20
An update must include a new feature, meaningful user-experience improvement, material bug fix, performance or reliability improvement, or new integration.
A technical re-upload without a material product change will not count. Multiple re-uploads of the same change will count as one update.
FINAL SCORE
Final Score =
New User Points + Growth Points + Update Points
The app with the highest final score will be recognised as the Quarterly Business Builder Award winner.
EXAMPLE 1 — STRONG USER ACQUISITION
- New users: 4,000
- Highest new-user total in the quarter: 10,000
- Users at quarter start: 2,000
- Users at quarter end: 3,200
- Qualified updates: 3
New User Points:
4,000 ÷ 10,000 × 50 = 20
Adjusted Growth:
(3,200 − 2,000) ÷ 2,000 = 60%
Growth Points:
60% ÷ 100% × 30 = 18
Update Points:
3 ÷ 5 × 20 = 12
Final Score:
20 + 18 + 12 = 50 points
EXAMPLE 2 — STRONG GROWTH AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- New users: 2,000
- Highest new-user total in the quarter: 10,000
- Users at quarter start: 1,000
- Users at quarter end: 2,000
- Qualified updates: 4
New User Points:
2,000 ÷ 10,000 × 50 = 10
Adjusted Growth:
(2,000 − 1,000) ÷ 1,000 = 100%
Growth Points:
100% ÷ 100% × 30 = 30
Update Points:
4 ÷ 5 × 20 = 16
Final Score:
10 + 30 + 16 = 56 points
EXAMPLE 3 — APP GROWING BEYOND THE 100-USER THRESHOLD
- Users at quarter start: 80
- Users at quarter end: 110
- Net new users: 30
- Highest new-user total in the quarter: 10,000
- Qualified updates: 2
Because the app started with fewer than 100 users, the first 100 users are treated as the minimum scoring base.
New User Points:
30 ÷ 10,000 × 50 = 0.15
Adjusted Growth:
(110 − 100) ÷ 100 = 10%
Growth Points:
10% ÷ 100% × 30 = 3
Update Points:
2 ÷ 5 × 20 = 8
Final Score:
0.15 + 3 + 8 = 11.15 points
If the app had ended the quarter with 100 or fewer users, its growth points would have been zero.
VERIFICATION AND DECISION
eToro may verify submitted results, request supporting information, exclude fraudulent or duplicate activity, adjust scores where necessary and disqualify entries that breach these rules.
If two apps receive the same final score, priority will be given to:
- The higher number of net new users.
- The higher adjusted growth percentage.
- The higher number of qualified updates.
The decision of the designated judging panel will be final.
